Hours: Monday - Friday, 08:30 - 17:30 (1-hour unpaid lunch)
Additional: Office-based, occasional Saturdays and overtime as required
About the Role
Due to continued global growth, our client is seeking a Road Freight Operator to join their established team based in the Manchester area.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with road freight experience to join a well-established, international logistics business, supporting both import and export operations while working closely with internal departments and overseas partners.
Main Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day Road Freight import and export operations
- Support the Operations Supervisor in delivering efficient and profitable operations
- Complete all documentation accurately and within required timeframes
- Ensure correct invoicing, including duties and VAT in line with procedures
- Liaise with overseas offices, clients and internal teams
- Raise jobs, prepare quotations and manage shipment progress
- Maintain strong relationships with clients and internal departments
- Assist with audits, inspections and collections where required
- Support credit control with outstanding payments
- Monitor and follow up on late payments
- Ensure all operational and financial activities meet company procedures
- Maintain and update SOPs where required
- Identify and report new business leads to the sales team
- Ensure all reports and system updates are completed on time
- Provide cover for holidays and sickness when needed
Skills & Experience Required
- Minimum 1 year experience within Road Freight operations
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal
- IT literate (Microsoft Office and operational systems)
- Strong attention to detail and analytical mindset
- Administrative experience within a logistics environment preferred
