Project Control Officer (PCO)
12 month contract initially

Role Description
You will act as the link between the Project Management, Commercial, Financial, and Contract Management teams, providing essential coordination to ensure cohesive and consistent operations. You will play a key role in executing and enhancing project management processes to ensure robust and efficient delivery to strict timescales. This role supports projects across their full lifecycle, providing key controls and governance.
Skills and Experience
A working knowledge and demonstrable experience in all or some of the following areas:
- Experience within a project delivery environment or PMO, with understanding of structured and agile frameworks & methodologies (e.g., APMP, PRINCE2, SAFe, MSP) beneficial.
- Project planning, scheduling, monitoring, and reporting; experience with P6, Microsoft Project, or JIRA desirable.
- Ability to work independently and prioritise tasks.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
- Excellent communication and numeracy skills.
- Initiative in researching information and identifying solutions to problems.
- Strong interpersonal skills, able to engage with a wide range of stakeholders and disciplines.
- Willingness to work flexibly from other office locations when required.
- Experience working with remote teams towards shared goals.
- Basic understanding of project management suites and awareness of commercial/financial procedures.
Responsibilities
- Delivering allocated project tasks as directed by the Project Manager, Contract Manager, or Project Controls Lead.
- Tracking project costs and producing finance reports.
- Ensuring accurate and timely invoicing.
- Supporting compliance with the Project Management Framework.
- Maintaining databases and spreadsheets for project control.
- Gathering timely input for finance and project management reports.
- Supporting Project Managers with financial and commercial processes.
- Assisting with preparation of management reporting.
- Preparing professional document templates and providing guidance on Stage Gate and project management processes (training provided).
- Supporting commercial operations from pipeline management to final accounts.
- Assisting with Risk and Issue Management and reporting.
- Maintaining and developing strong professional relationships to secure repeat business.
- Presenting information to clients and stakeholders professionally and responsively.
- Supporting client, programme, and financial management of projects.
