The Role
As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will provide academic and pastoral support to pupils across the primary phase, helping to create an engaging and positive learning environment.
The school is particularly interested in candidates who are confident delivering intervention sessions and booster groups in Mathematics and English.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting teaching and learning across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.
- Providing one-to-one and small-group academic interventions.
- Delivering targeted booster sessions in Maths and English.
- Supporting pupils who require additional academic encouragement and guidance.
- Assisting teachers with lesson preparation and classroom activities.
- Monitoring pupil progress and engagement.
- Promoting positive behaviour and excellent attitudes to learning.
- Helping create a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment.
- Acting as a positive role model for pupils throughout the school.
Candidate Profile
The school is seeking a strong academic graduate who is committed to making a genuine difference to children's educational outcomes.
Essential Requirements
- Degree from a Russell Group University.
- A First-Class Honours Degree or strong 2:1 classification.
- Excellent GCSE results, particularly in English, Mathematics, and Science.
- Strong A-Level results.
- An Education-related degree or a degree with strong relevance to teaching and learning.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Confidence supporting pupils across a range of academic abilities.
- A genuine passion for education and child development.
Desired Experience
The ideal candidate will have previous experience working with children through:
- Tutoring.
- Youth work.
- Summer school programmes.
- Primary school placements.
- Mentoring or coaching.
- Educational volunteering.
- Learning support or classroom assistant roles.
Candidates should be able to demonstrate an ability to build positive relationships with children while maintaining high expectations for behaviour and achievement.
