Management Accountant in London, London

We are working with a small, specialist professional body operating within a niche international sector. It provides membership services, industry networking opportunities, and publishes sector-relevant content for a stable community of corporate members and professional individuals worldwide. With multi-currency operations and a lean internal structure, it offers a uniquely broad hands-on finance role inside a close-knit team.
This is an ideal role for a part-qualified accountant or someone working towards a professional qualification who enjoys hands-on accounting and administrative responsibility in a smaller organisation.
You will support the Finance Lead with the day-to-day accounting operations – the “nuts and bolts” of the finance function – allowing him to focus on strategic work.
The role is varied, operational, and requires a solid grounding in debits, credits, bookkeeping, and financial administration.
Key Responsibilities
- Daily & Operational Accounting
- Maintain accurate financial records and bookkeeping across the organisation
- Process invoices, payments, receipts, and journals
- Issue membership invoices and individual invoices
- Manage multi-currency transactions and balances
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and company expenses
- Support with accounts payable and receivable
- Manage the accounting system (QuickBooks) – experience essential
- Ensure clean, organised financial data and documentation
- Support with financial reporting data and ad hoc analysis for the Finance Lead
- Assist with audit preparation and documentation for the annual year-end process
- Help coordinate the annual accounting exercise with external advisors
- Prepare schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documents for year-end
- Provide administrative and financial support to senior leadership
- Contribute to improvements in processes, controls, and efficiency
- Work flexibly across the small team when needed
Essential
- Part-qualified accountant (ACCA / CIMA / ACA) or equivalent experience
- Strong understanding of fundamental accounting (debits, credits, reconciliations)
- Hands-on bookkeeping experience
- QuickBooks proficiency
- Comfortable working in a small organisation with a broad remit
- Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
- Confident managing multi-currency transactions
- Proactive, reliable, and able to work independently
