Job Role of the Maintenance Manager

As a Maintenance Manager, you will lead the engineering function across a busy manufacturing site, ensuring safe, compliant and efficient operations. You'll be responsible for driving engineering performance, improving asset reliability and leading a skilled maintenance team during an exciting period of investment and site growth.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading and developing the engineering team through coaching, training and succession planning.
• Managing planned and reactive maintenance to improve asset reliability and maximise OEE.
• Ensuring compliance with PUWER, LOLER, electrical safety and statutory engineering requirements.
• Leading root cause investigations and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
• Managing engineering budgets and delivering cost-effective maintenance solutions.
• Overseeing industrial services, site utilities and automation systems.
• Working closely with Production, Quality, SHE and external contractors to support factory performance.
• Promoting a positive health & safety culture across the engineering department.

Non-Negotiable Requirements of the Maintenance Manager

• Engineering qualification
• Previous engineering leadership experience within FMCG or a similar industrial environment.
• Strong knowledge of planned maintenance, asset reliability and engineering compliance.
• Experience managing engineering teams and driving continuous improvement.

Requirements for the Maintenance Manager

• Experience managing maintenance budgets and engineering KPIs.
• Knowledge of automation and manufacturing execution systems.
• Strong understanding of health & safety legislation and safe systems of work.
• Experience working with contractors and external service providers.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.

Desirable Requirements for the Maintenance Manager

• Experience delivering CAPEX or engineering projects.
• Continuous Improvement or process optimisation experience.
