The role
You will own how electrical design is delivered across the business. That means your decisions will directly improve project outcomes, design quality, and team performance.
By leading projects from concept through to completion, you will gain full control of the design lifecycle. This builds your commercial awareness, strengthens your technical authority, and positions you as a key voice in the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead design projects from start to finish, giving you full ownership and visibility
- Produce and review designs, strengthening your expertise and credibility
- Develop schematics and panel layouts, deepening your technical capability
- Work closely with production and commissioning teams, ensuring your designs translate into successful delivery
- Engage with customers, allowing you to influence solutions and build strong relationships
- Set and maintain design standards, raising quality across the business
- Support and guide engineers, helping you grow as a leader
- Improve processes, giving you direct input into how the business operates
- Support tenders, expanding your commercial and strategic understanding

The person
- Experience in a senior electrical design role within the water industry or similar
- Strong knowledge of electrical, control, and automation systems
- Experience producing or reviewing schematics and technical documentation
- Understanding of MEICA delivery in an industrial setting
- Confident making decisions and setting direction
- Strong communication skills with customers, teams, and suppliers
- Proactive approach to problem solving and improvement
- Experience with Eplan software
