The Role
This is a build role, not a maintenance role.
You'll inherit a business that is rich in data but lacks a centralised reporting infrastructure. Working closely with the Finance Director and senior leadership team, you'll design and implement the data architecture, reporting capability and automation that will underpin future business growth.
You'll lead the development of a scalable data platform, replacing manual reporting with automated pipelines, self-service dashboards and a single source of truth across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
Build the Data Function

Design, build and own a central data warehouse bringing together sales, marketing, customer, operational and financial data

Define the long-term data architecture and implement the technology required to support business growth

Build automated ETL/ELT pipelines across ecommerce platforms, CRM systems, finance platforms, wholesale channels and warehouse management systems

Establish robust data governance, ownership, documentation and quality standards

Create a scalable reporting environment that supports future expansion
Reporting & Business Intelligence

Replace spreadsheet-based reporting with automated dashboards and self-service reporting tools

Develop reporting suites for Finance, Commercial, Ecommerce, Marketing, Merchandising and Operations

Automate board reporting, management information packs and trading reports

Deliver meaningful commercial insight that supports strategic decision-making

Ensure reporting evolves as new markets, products and systems are introduced
Business Partnership

Act as the senior data leader across the organisation
-
Partner with Finance on commercial reporting, forecasting and board-level insight
-
Work alongside Ecommerce, Marketing, Merchandising and Operations to improve reporting and business performance

Identify opportunities where automation and better use of data can improve efficiency and profitability
-
Build and develop the future data function as the business continues to grow
About You
We're looking for an experienced data leader who combines strong technical capability with commercial awareness and enjoys building functions from the ground up.
You'll ideally have:

Experience building a data function, BI capability or enterprise data platform from scratch
-
Strong experience with SQL, modern data warehousing, ETL/ELT tools and BI platforms such as Power BI, Tableau, Looker or similar

Experience automating reporting and delivering self-service dashboards across multiple business functions
-
Experience integrating data from ecommerce, retail, wholesale, CRM, finance and operational systems
-
Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence senior leadership
-
Excellent commercial awareness and the ability to turn data into actionable business insight
-
Previous experience within a high-growth consumer products, retail, ecommerce, lifestyle or FMCG business would be highly advantageous

Experience leading teams or the ambition to build and lead a data function
Success in the Role
Within your first three months you'll:

Within six months you'll:

Have the core data warehouse live

Integrate key commercial, finance and operational systems

Deliver automated management reporting and business dashboards

Establish a trusted, business-wide data function

Eliminate the majority of manual reporting processes

Embed robust data governance across the organisation

Create a roadmap for the continued growth of the data function
