A forward-thinking and inclusive secondary school in Brent is seeking a motivated Graduate Unqualified Economics Teacher to join its Humanities/Economics provision from January 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for a graduate planning to pursue a PGCE or formal teacher training who wants high-quality, hands-on classroom experience beforehand.

The Role

As a Graduate Unqualified Economics Teacher, you will work closely with experienced teachers to support teaching and learning across KS4 and KS5. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing targeted academic support to students, focusing on exam technique, data interpretation, and extended written responses.
  • Running small-group and one-to-one intervention sessions to raise attainment.
  • Assisting with lesson preparation, resource development, marking, and feedback.
  • Helping students develop confidence with key economic concepts and real-world application.
  • Building strong classroom management skills with ongoing mentoring and guidance.
  • Working collaboratively with the Economics and wider Humanities department.

This role offers an authentic insight into the realities of teaching while providing the structured support needed to develop confidence and competence in the classroom.

Person Specification

  • A degree in Economics or a closely related subject (2:1 or above preferred).
  • Candidates with strong A-levels will also be considered.
  • Strong subject knowledge and enthusiasm for economics and current affairs.
  • Confident communication skills and a professional, proactive approach.
  • The ability to build positive, respectful relationships with students.
  • Previous experience working with young people is desirable but not essential.

Why Join This School?

  • Well-regarded secondary school in Brent with excellent transport links.
  • Supportive department with a strong history of developing graduate into qualified teachers.
  • Access to high-quality CPD and clear teacher training pathways.
  • Inclusive, diverse student community and collaborative staff culture.
  • Ideal preparation for PGCE, Schools Direct, or Teach First applications for 2026.
