KPI Education are delighted to be working in partnership with a highly respected secondary school within a successful and supportive multi-academy trust to appoint an outstanding Second in Charge of English.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and ambitious English Teacher looking to take the next step in their career, or an existing middle leader seeking a new challenge within a thriving and high-performing department.

The successful candidate will support the Head of English in driving standards across the department, developing curriculum excellence, and ensuring all students achieve their full potential.

The Role

As Second in Charge of English, you will:

  • Support the Head of Department in the strategic leadership of English across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5.

  • Deliver outstanding English lessons that inspire a love of literature and language.

  • Contribute to curriculum planning, assessment, intervention strategies and departmental improvement.

  • Support the development and mentoring of colleagues within the department.

  • Monitor student progress and implement strategies to raise attainment and achievement.

  • Play an active role in whole-school initiatives and the wider life of the school.

Essential Requirements

Applications will only be considered from candidates who meet all of the following criteria:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK.

  • Proven experience teaching English within a UK secondary school.

  • Experience demonstrating leadership potential or current middle leadership responsibilities.

  • Strong knowledge of the English curriculum and assessment frameworks.

  • Right to work in the UK.

  • Able to commute to Chertsey within approximately one hour.
