Shift: 4 on 4 off Days & Nights

Job Role of the Engineering Team Leader

An exciting opportunity has become available for an Engineering Team Leader to take ownership of the engineering function on shift at a busy heavy industrial manufacturing site.

This is a hands-on leadership position where you will lead the shift engineering team while continuing to carry out electrical and mechanical maintenance yourself. You will coordinate breakdown response, organise planned preventative maintenance and ensure the engineering workload is prioritised around production requirements.

The role will involve allocating tasks, supporting engineers with complex faults, maintaining plant reliability and reducing downtime across the site. You will also support continuous improvement projects, boiler checks, site utilities and statutory maintenance requirements while coaching the team and promoting safe, consistent engineering standards.

The successful candidate will be confident leading by example and able to balance the practical demands of hands-on maintenance with the responsibility of keeping the shift organised and effective.

Sector - Heavy Industrial Manufacturing

Non-Negotiable Requirements of the Engineering Team Leader

  • Apprentice trained or NVQ Level 3 qualified (or equivalent).
  • Multi-Skilled Engineer with a strong electrical and mechanical skills.
  • Manufacturing background.

Requirements for the Engineering Team Leader

  • Strong electrical fault-finding experience.
  • Experience carrying out reactive breakdowns and planned preventative maintenance.
  • Previous experience leading or supervising an engineering team.
  • Experience working on industrial plant and production machinery.
  • Continuous Improvement and Root Cause Analysis experience.
  • Strong fault-finding skills across electrical and mechanical equipment.

Desirable Requirements for the Engineering Team Leader

  • Comfortable working at heights.
  • Physically fit and able to work within a demanding industrial environment.
  • Welding and fabrication experience.
  • Food, FMCG, Agricultural or Heavy Industrial manufacturing experience.
