Location – Wigan
Salary – £46,855 – £49,855
Shift – 3 Shift Pattern (6am–2pm / 2pm–10pm / 10pm–6am)
Job Role of the Electrical Maintenance Engineer
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a hands-on Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join a highly automated, fast-paced manufacturing site. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a large-scale production environment featuring one of the most advanced corrugation operations in Europe.
The successful engineer will be working within a high-speed production area, responsible for maintaining and improving machinery that produces up to 26,000 units per hour. This is a dynamic role offering a mix of planned and reactive maintenance, fault finding, and involvement in continuous improvement and project work.
You will be responsible for ensuring maximum uptime and efficiency across a range of automated machinery in a lean manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities
- Electrical fault finding on high-speed production machinery
- Planned preventative and reactive maintenance
- Working with systems including sensors, motors, drives, and control panels
- Diagnosing faults across single-phase and three-phase (415V) systems
- Working with AC/DC systems, inverters, and PLCs (Siemens)
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings
- Using CMMS systems (Maximo)
- Supporting installations, upgrades, and project work
- Identifying root causes and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives

Non-Negotiable Requirements
- Electrical maintenance experience within a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Requirements for the Electrical Maintenance Engineer
- Hands-on electrical fault-finding experience
- Recognised engineering qualification (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent)
- Experience working in industrial/manufacturing environments
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication skills and proactive mindset
Desirable Requirements
- Experience with Siemens PLCs (fault finding)
- Background in high-speed or automated manufacturing
- Continuous improvement experience
