Role Overview

The London Borough of Haringey is seeking an experienced Educational Psychologist to join its dynamic Educational Psychology Service. In this exciting role, you will provide vital psychological support within educational settings, focusing on enhancing the educational outcomes and well-being of children and young people across the borough. You will collaborate closely with schools, families, and multi-disciplinary teams to support students with special educational needs (SEN), challenging behaviours, and emotional or psychological difficulties.

What You Will Do

  • Psychological Assessments: Conduct thorough assessments of children and young people to identify their educational, emotional, and developmental needs.

  • Consultation & Advice: Provide expert consultation to schools, parents, and multi-agency teams, helping to develop tailored intervention strategies.

  • Evidence-Based Interventions: Develop and deliver interventions for students dealing with mental health, emotional difficulties, and learning disabilities.

  • Training & Workshops: Design and run training sessions for school staff to enhance their understanding of child development, mental health, and learning challenges.

  • Therapeutic Interventions: Provide individual or group therapy focused on behaviour management, emotional regulation, and cognitive development.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, school leaders, and external agencies to ensure an integrated approach to supporting children's education and well-being.

  • Multi-Agency Work: Participate in meetings, child protection conferences, and early intervention initiatives to support children in need.

  • Inclusion Initiatives: Advise on strategies for integrating children with disabilities into mainstream education.

Key Requirements

  • Qualification: Doctorate in Educational Psychology or a Postgraduate Diploma in Educational Psychology.

  • Registration: Must be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as an Educational Psychologist.

  • Experience: Significant experience in educational psychology, particularly in SEN, emotional/behavioural challenges, and mental health.

  • Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to work independently and collaboratively, strong analytical and report writing abilities, and effective caseload management.
