Location: Remote, Hybrid or Office-Based (Flexible)
Working Hours: 9:00am – 5:00pm | Minimum 3 days per week
Rate: £280 – £300 per day (Ltd), dependent on experience
Sanctuary Personnel is currently recruiting an experienced Education, Health and Care (EHC) Plan Writer to support local authority SEND services. This is a flexible opportunity offering remote, hybrid, or office-based working, ideal for professionals with a strong background in EHCP writing and SEND casework.
Role Overview
This role focuses on the production of high-quality, legally compliant Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), alongside associated SEND casework. You will work as part of an established national educational psychology practice, supporting local authority partners in meeting their statutory duties under the Children and Families Act and SEND Code of Practice.
You will be responsible for end-to-end EHCP writing, including co-production with families, young people, and educational settings. Comprehensive induction and ongoing support will be provided by senior leaders, experienced practitioners, educational psychologists, and business support teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, amend, and finalise high-quality Education, Health and Care Plans
- Ensure EHCPs are legally compliant, outcome-focused, and include clear, specific, and quantifiable provision
- Manage end-to-end EHCP casework, from evidence gathering to final plan issuance
- Coordinate and synthesise information from multi-agency professionals, including education, health, and social care
- Work collaboratively with families, children, young people, and schools to ensure effective co-production
- Embed the voice, wishes, and aspirations of the child or young person within each plan
- Maintain statutory timescales and respond effectively to queries or challenges
- Liaise professionally with local authorities, schools, and partner agencies
- Maintain accurate records and adhere to agreed templates and processes
Essential Criteria
- Proven experience writing, amending, and preparing Education, Health and Care Plans
- Background as an SEN Caseworker, SEN Case Officer, EHCP Coordinator, or EHC Plan Writer
- Strong working knowledge of SEND legislation, including the SEND Code of Practice and Children and Families Act
- Ability to ensure EHCPs meet legal standards and withstand scrutiny
- Demonstrated experience of co-production with families and young people
- Strong analytical skills to interpret and summarise complex multi-professional reports
- Excellent written communication skills with exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously and meet statutory deadlines
- Confident communicator with empathy and professionalism when working with families and professionals
- Strong organisational and time-management skills
Desirable Criteria
- CPD-accredited training in EHCP writing
