Design Manager in Manchester, North West

Position: Design Manager
Location: Manchester
Contract: Contract (outside IR35) or Permanent

Shape tomorrow’s water infrastructure while leading a high-performing, multi-disciplinary design team

PURPOSE
Manage designers and design delivery across multi-disciplinary teams within the water industry ensuring time and quality expectations.

Responsibilities

• • Manage, direct and develop engineers, CAD technicians and graduates
• • Grow the design team and maintain a positive ethos and attitude within the team
• • Lead the design process on multidisciplinary water industry projects
• • Challenge, improve and shape formal processes and procedures for design team and ensure work is undertaken using them
• • Identify and implement appropriate software packages, and drive the use of BIM and 3D modelling where necessary
• • Ensure team produce design deliverables that satisfy safety and quality requirements and are fully integrated
• • Ensure team produce design deliverables within agreed timescales and hours
• • Ensure team use appropriate standards, best practice and software tools
• • Ensure project change for design packages is fully recorded
• • Assist with estimating hours required for design packages

Required Qualifications & Experience

• 10 years’ experience working in the engineering design industry in a regulated sector ideally Water or wastewater projects
• Graduate or HND
• Good level IT
• Experience in regulated water industry
• Track record managing multidisciplinary design teams and projects
• Experience building teams and capability of junior staff
• Driving licence & access to vehicle

Preferred Qualifications & Experience

• Chartered engineer or working towards chartership
