Join us as a Band 6 Occupational Therapist in the Wheelchair Therapy Service located in the vibrant areas of Brighton and Horsham, East Sussex. This exciting temporary full-time role spans 2 months with a fantastic earning potential of up to £26.34 per hour. Your expertise in occupational therapy, particularly within the realms of wheelchair and seating assessments, will be vital in supporting and enhancing the mobility of service users. With working hours from 09:00 to 17:00, Monday to Friday, you'll have ample time to explore the beautiful seaside city of Brighton.

What you will do

  • Complete comprehensive wheelchair and seating assessments for both adults and children.
  • Assess the mobility, postural and functional needs of service users effectively.
  • Recommend and prescribe the most appropriate manual and powered wheelchairs.
  • Assess for specialist seating, pressure care, and positioning requirements, ensuring comfort and safety.
  • Provide clinical justification for the provision of equipment.
  • Review and monitor wheelchair prescriptions to guarantee ongoing suitability.
  • Carry out risk assessments relating to mobility, transfers, and equipment use.
  • Deliver person-centred interventions to maximise independence and quality of life.
  • Liaise with carers, families, and multidisciplinary teams regarding equipment provision and adaptations.
  • Provide advice, education, and training on safe wheelchair use.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records and comprehensive reports.
  • Participate actively in service development and manage caseload priorities.

Requirements

To thrive in this role, you will need a Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy and HCPC registration. We are looking for someone with Band 6 Occupational Therapy experience, particularly in specialist equipment assessments and working within wheelchair, seating, or community services. Strong assessment and clinical reasoning skills, experience within multidisciplinary teams, and excellent communication and report-writing abilities are essential.
