An exciting opportunity awaits for an Advanced Social Worker to join the Youth Justice Service in Islington for a rewarding three-month locum role. Nestled in the vibrant heart of London, this position will see you based at 50 Isledon Road, London, N7 7LD. With core working hours of 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday, there’s plenty of flexibility to suit your lifestyle, including options such as 8am to 6pm over four days a week or a part-time schedule if preferred.

What you will do:

  • Supervise the statutory orders for young people under the Youth Justice Service's remit.
  • Deliver the court's sentence by promoting compliance and managing enforcement when necessary.
  • Prepare thorough pre-sentence and referral order reports adhering to national standards.
  • Represent the Youth Justice Service at Youth Court, Crown Court, and other courts as required.
  • Collaborate with children’s service teams to support young people remanded to Local Authority accommodation.
  • Work with secure estate officers to facilitate the successful reintegration of young offenders back into the community after custody.
  • Manage a comprehensive caseload, engage in direct work and home visits with young people and their families.
  • Conduct assessments using ASSETPlus to gain a detailed understanding of offending behaviours.
  • Create and implement risk management and intervention plans to prevent re-offending.
  • Advocate for multi-agency collaboration and attend case reviews.
  • Provide structured supervision and guidance for young people on bail.
  • Communicate any concerns regarding the welfare of children and young people with relevant professionals.
  • Facilitate restorative justice opportunities for both victims and offenders.
  • Represent the Youth Justice Service, ensuring information is accurate and timely, while collaborating with various public and voluntary agencies to achieve positive outcomes.
