Role Overview

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Adults Social Worker to join the Mental Health Team in Tameside. This full‑time locum position focuses on providing specialist Section 117 aftercare within a supportive and collaborative multidisciplinary environment. Starting on 4th May 2026 and running until 27th July 2026, this role offers hybrid flexibility, a competitive hourly rate of £35, and the chance to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals with complex mental health needs.

Working within a dynamic team, you will undertake Care Act assessments, develop personalised care plans, and work closely with mental health services and wider partner agencies to ensure high‑quality, person‑centred support. This role is ideal for a confident practitioner with strong expertise in Adult Mental Health.

Key Responsibilities / What You Will Do

  • Manage a caseload of adults receiving Section 117 aftercare support.
  • Complete Care Act assessments and develop evidence‑based care and support plans.
  • Work closely with mental health services, including NHS partners, community teams, and voluntary agencies.
  • Support individuals with complex mental health needs to live safely and independently within the community.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and best practice standards.
  • Maintain accurate, timely case recordings and documentation.

Requirements / Candidate Criteria

Essential

  • Recognised Social Work qualification (Degree / DipSW / CQSW).
  • Registration with Social Work England.
  • Strong experience in Adult Mental Health services.
  • Demonstrable experience providing Section 117 aftercare.
  • Sound understanding of the Care Act, Mental Health Act, and associated statutory duties.
  • Ability to work confidently in a multi‑agency environment.

Desirable

  • Experience within a local authority mental health team.
  • Familiarity with Tameside pathways and community services.
