Our Client has a requirement for an EC&I Engineer, who will be required to work on a contract basis in Warrington.


Role Purpose:

  • Deliver high-quality EC&I engineering design work packages — including specifications, drawings, analyses, verifications, and assessments — that meet all legal, functional, and performance requirements within agreed time, cost, and quality targets.

  • Support the Lead Engineer in preparing design documentation for new glove box installations and modifications to existing systems.

  • Assist in developing design documentation and safety assessments for containment and machinery systems, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations.


Job Role Responsibilities:

  • Prepare detailed design documentation for new Pressurised Package Facility glove box installations and modifications to existing glove box systems.

  • Support the preparation of design documentation for Containment Vessel Release Tool (CVRT) systems, focusing on machinery safety compliance.

  • Conduct and document machinery risk assessments and performance level assessments to ensure functional safety compliance.

  • Contribute to the design of Safety Systems, including the production of Design Substantiation and Justification Reports (DSJR) and Safety Requirements Engineering (SRE) Check Sheets.

  • Deliver EC&I project designs and engineering outputs in accordance with project schedules, quality standards, and safety requirements.

  • Apply relevant industry standards, including CDM Regulations and IET Wiring Regulations, throughout design and delivery phases.

  • Design and review building electrical services, including space management, cable routing, and cable management solutions.

  • Work collaboratively within an integrated delivery team while maintaining the ability to perform independently under time constraints.

  • Ensure clear communication, coordination, and documentation across project stakeholders and disciplines.


Experience / Skills / Knowledge / Qualifications:

Essential:

  • SC Clearance (or ability to obtain).

  • Demonstrable experience delivering systems in accordance with BS 61508 and BS EN 13849.

  • Strong understanding of Machinery Safety Regulations and functional safety compliance.

  • Proven experience in the design and delivery of Safety Systems, including DSJR and SRE documentation.

  • Competence in producing and reviewing Machinery Risk Assessments and Performance Level Assessments.

  • Experience in EC&I project delivery, including building electrical services design.

  • Knowledge and practical application of CDM Regulations and IET Wiring Regulations.

  • Experience with space planning, cable routing, and cable management for complex systems.

  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to liaise at all organisational levels.

  • Ability to work effectively both independently and within integrated, multidisciplinary teams.

Desirable:

  • Certified TÜV SÜD (FSE, CMSE, ISO 13849, IEC 60261).

  • EngTech accreditation or higher.

  • Degree qualified in Electrical, Control & Instrumentation, or a related engineering discipline.

  • Experience working within Sellafield Ltd Management Systems.

  • Familiarity with EC&I specialisms such as Radiometrics, Instrumentation, and Safety Systems.
