The Role - Graduate Teaching Assistant

As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting teaching and learning within your chosen department. Your responsibilities will include:

Academic Support:

Providing targeted support to students both in-class and through small group interventions
Assisting with lesson preparation and potentially leading parts of lessons as you develop
Supporting students with exam preparation, particularly for GCSE and A-Level qualifications
Helping to develop students' subject-specific skills, critical thinking, and study techniques

Classroom Management:

Creating positive and engaging learning environments
Supporting behaviour management strategies
Encouraging student participation and building confidence

Who We're Looking For

We welcome applications from graduates seeking their first step into education who demonstrate:

Academic Excellence:

2:1 degree or above in a relevant subject area
Strong subject knowledge appropriate to secondary school level
Ability to explain complex concepts clearly and accessibly

Experience (Desirable but not Essential):

Previous work with young people through tutoring, mentoring, or volunteering
Understanding of the UK education system
Additional skills such as sports coaching, music, or drama

Subject-Specific Requirements

Mathematics: Engineering, Physics, Economics, or related numerical disciplines welcomed
Science: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or related scientific disciplines
English: English Literature, English Language, Creative Writing, or related humanities subjects
