We are looking for a dedicated Intervention Worker to join our Children with Disabilities service. This role focuses on promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children with additional needs by carrying out thorough assessments, coordinating tailored support, and working directly with children and their families.

You will play a vital role in helping families access the right services, reviewing and commissioning support plans, and ensuring children’s voices are heard and respected.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Carry out assessments for children with additional needs at early intervention.
  • Coordinate and review service provision to meet identified needs.
  • Undertake direct work with children and their families, using a variety of communication methods.
  • Promote inclusion and respect children’s individual needs, including those arising from disability, culture, religion, or language.
  • Build positive and open relationships with parents, carers, and children to encourage active participation.
  • Support the development of parents and carers to achieve the best outcomes for children.
  • Work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team and alongside external agencies.
  • Attend meetings, panels, and provide both written and verbal reports as required.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date case records and ensure clear communication with professionals involved.
  • Participate in regular supervision, training, and staff development opportunities.
  • Adhere to all relevant legislation, statutory regulations, and Council policies.

About You

Essential qualifications:

  • GCSEs (Grade A–C / 4–9) including Maths and English, or equivalent.
  • Full driving licence.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both spoken and written.

Essential skills & experience:

  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection.
  • Experience of joint working with other agencies.
  • Strong skills in needs and risk assessment.
  • Ability to build meaningful relationships with children, parents, and carers.
  • Effective team player with good communication and report-writing skills.
  • Competence in using IT systems to maintain accurate case records.
