I am looking for a strategic and people-driven HR Manager to take the lead on the HR function for a fast-paced, multicultural, and unionised business in Amsterdam. This is a high-impact role where you will manage a team of over 10 HR professionals while acting as a trusted partner to the Managing Director and leadership team.

This is about more than processes – I need someone who can truly be the glue that holds the leadership and wider teams together, guiding, coaching, and aligning everyone towards shared goals.

Your Experience

  • Degree-level education and professional HR qualification
  • Proven experience as a senior HR leader or HR Manager in a large, fast-paced organisation
  • Strong background in employee relations within a unionised, blue-collar environment
  • Track record of managing and developing HR teams of 10+ people
  • Experience guiding leadership teams through change, negotiations, and alignment
  • Proficiency in HR systems (Workday, Kronos, or similar) is a plus
  • Fluent English (Dutch preferred but not essential)

Your Responsibilities

  • Coach and Partner: Act as a close advisor to the MD, helping to unify the leadership team and ensure decisions are people-focused and commercially aligned.
  • Lead the HR Team: Manage, develop, and inspire a team of 10+ HR professionals, ensuring consistency, engagement, and high performance.
  • Employee Relations: Lead union and Works Council engagement, pay negotiations, and workforce relations in a collaborative and constructive way.
  • Engagement: Drive initiatives that bring company values to life, improve communication, and strengthen culture.
  • Talent & Development: Build robust talent pipelines, succession planning, and strategies for retention and development.
  • Compliance & Systems: Oversee payroll, compliance, and HR systems, ensuring efficiency and legal alignment.
  • Culture Builder: Be the person who gets everyone on the same page, coaching individuals and teams at all levels – including “coaching up” – to deliver results together.
