What you will do:
- Manage inpatients who are acutely unwell across various medicine wards, including care of the elderly, cardiac, respiratory, emergency, trauma, and a critical care unit focused on cardiothoracic conditions.
- Conduct assessments and provide treatment for dysphagia and communication disorders, tailoring therapies to each patient's needs.
- Be adaptable in working across other inpatient caseloads as needed, with opportunities to gain experience in fields such as Acute Neurosciences, Critical Care, and Acute Stroke.
- Exhibit advanced competencies in areas such as tracheostomy care, videofluoroscopy, and fiberoptic endoscopic evaluation of swallow (FEES).
- Lead and mentor less experienced team members, providing line management and professional supervision.
- Embrace and contribute to quality improvement and service delivery projects, fostering innovations in patient care.
Requirements:
- A degree in Speech and Language Therapy with HCPC registration.
- Recent NHS or UK experience as a qualified Speech and Language Therapist is required.
- Possessing advanced skills, particularly in tracheostomy and videofluoroscopy, is highly desirable.
