Role Purpose
Provide independent, impartial leadership to multi-agency safeguarding boards and partnerships, ensuring strong governance, accountability, and collaboration to safeguard children and vulnerable adults across Barnet.
Key Responsibilities

Chair meetings of the Safeguarding Children’s Partnership or Safeguarding Adults Board, ensuring inclusive, constructive, and effective discussions.

Promote joined-up working between local authorities, health services, police, voluntary organisations, and other stakeholders.

Ensure statutory duties are delivered in line with the Children Act 2004, Care Act 2014, and other relevant legislation.

Oversee the creation, review, and implementation of safeguarding policies and multi-agency action plans.

Encourage constructive challenge and scrutiny to improve safeguarding outcomes.

Maintain impartiality and transparency in all decision-making.

Represent the Board at regional and national meetings, influencing wider safeguarding strategies.

Support the publication of annual reports, serious case reviews, and key safeguarding documents.

Embed learning from audits, reviews, and quality assurance into local practice.
Person Specification

Extensive senior leadership experience in safeguarding, social care, health, or related fields.

Expert knowledge of safeguarding legislation, frameworks, and best practice.

Proven track record of chairing multi-agency meetings with authority and impartiality.

Excellent facilitation, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.

Ability to work independently with professionalism and integrity.
