What you will do:
- Organise and undertake the dispensing and distribution of all medicines against a previously clinically checked prescription or request, adhering to departmental policies and the Medicines Act 1965 using the JAC computer system.
- Dispense prescriptions for inpatients and outpatients of the Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, including discharge medication, repeat prescriptions, and monitored dosage schemes.
- Manage prescriptions for patients attending specialist clinics and day units within NNUH, as well as those involved in clinical trials.
- Dispense all controlled drugs in compliance with departmental policies and the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971.
- Maintain documentation to support all medicine dispensing activities, including controlled drugs.
- Assist in replacing Dispensary stock, including ordering, receipt, and maintenance of stock records.
- Issue medicines to outpatients, offering appropriate advice and counselling to ensure effective medication use.
- Process stock returned from wards, ensuring correct rotation of short-dated items.
- Play an active role in training and assessing the competency of Dispensary staff, including pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and apprentices.
- Suggest improvements and innovations to enhance the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of Pharmacy Services.
- Contribute to maintaining good housekeeping within the Dispensary and supporting areas.
