Role Purpose:

As a Social Worker in the Safeguarding Team, you’ll play a pivotal role in identifying and addressing risks to children. You’ll deliver relationship-based, child-centred practice that focuses on achieving stability, safety, and positive outcomes.


What You Will Do:

  • Manage a caseload of complex and high-risk child protection cases.

  • Complete statutory assessments in line with the Children Act 1989 and create SMART care plans tailored to each child’s needs.

  • Lead child protection investigations, strategy meetings, and multi-agency reviews.

  • Initiate and progress public law care proceedings, preparing court documentation and assessments.

  • Work closely with families, schools, health professionals, and the police to develop joint plans that place the child’s needs at the centre.

  • Maintain thorough and up-to-date case records, adhering to national standards and local policies.

  • Participate in reflective supervision and contribute to service improvements through feedback and engagement.


Essential Requirements:

  • Social Work degree (or equivalent) and Social Work England registration.

  • Experience working within statutory children’s social care, particularly in safeguarding or child protection.

  • Proficiency in risk assessment, court proceedings, and multi-agency working.

  • Excellent communication, report-writing, and analytical skills.

  • A commitment to evidence-based practice and child-centred decision making.


Desirable:

  • Prior experience in a Safeguarding or Assessment team.

  • Familiarity with Northamptonshire’s integrated services and restorative practice framework.
