What you will do:

  • Lead and manage a team of social workers, ensuring the safeguarding and promotion of children's best interests according to statutory frameworks.
  • Oversee team operations, ensuring services are aligned with government policy, legislation, and council procedures.
  • Act as a leader, providing direction and support to implement any changes in service delivery or policy.
  • Advise senior managers on strategic direction and ensure effective feedback loops.
  • Manage budgets and resources, optimising these to provide excellent service delivery.
  • Foster effective working relationships with other council departments and external agencies.
  • Ensure workload is prioritised and distributed appropriately among team members.
  • Conduct regular supervision meetings to monitor and enhance practice quality and performance.
  • Organise team meetings to maintain communication and review team performance.
  • Represent the service professionally with external agencies and in court, ensuring the safety and best outcomes for children.
  • Chair case meetings and ensure care plans meet children’s safety and wellbeing needs.
  • Monitor and report on management information to ensure effective service delivery.
