The Opportunity

Are you a recent Science graduate looking to take your first step into education? We are working in partnership with an outstanding secondary school in Birmingham, who are seeking a motivated Graduate Science Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2025.

This is a full-time, term-time only role, ideal for an aspiring teacher who is planning to complete teacher training in 2026 or beyond. You’ll gain valuable, hands-on classroom experience supporting Science lessons across KS3 and KS4, working alongside excellent teaching staff in a supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities

As a Graduate Science Teaching Assistant, you will:

• Support Science teachers in delivering engaging, high-quality lessons in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics
• Provide one-to-one and small group academic support to help pupils achieve their potential
• Assist with practical experiments and preparation of Science resources
• Help maintain classroom organisation and support behaviour management strategies
• Encourage pupil engagement and motivation
• Get involved with extracurricular activities, including Science/STEM clubs

Who We’re Looking For

For the Graduate Science Teaching Assistant role, we are looking for enthusiastic graduates who meet the following criteria:

• Minimum 2:1 degree in a Science-related subject (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Natural Sciences, Engineering, etc.)
• Passion for Science and education
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• A proactive, positive approach to supporting learning
• A genuine interest in working with young people and pursuing a career in teaching
• Previous experience working with young people (e.g., tutoring, mentoring, coaching) is desirable but not essential
