The Role – Graduate English Teaching Assistant

As a Graduate English Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and students across Key Stages 3 and 4, helping to raise attainment and foster a love of English.

Key responsibilities include:

• Providing 1:1 and small group support to students needing additional help in English
• Assisting with the planning and delivery of engaging lessons
• Supporting pupils with GCSE preparation, essay writing, and comprehension
• Helping to develop students’ confidence in both spoken and written English
• Preparing learning resources and maintaining a positive classroom environment
• Working with SEN and pastoral staff to support student progress and wellbeing

What We’re Looking For – Graduate English Teaching Assistant

• A 2:1 or above in English, English Literature, or a related subject
• A passion for education and a desire to make a difference in the classroom
• Strong communication skills and a confident, proactive approach
• A positive attitude and the ability to work collaboratively with staff and students
• Previous experience working with young people (e.g. tutoring, mentoring, volunteering) is an advantage but not essential
• A commitment to working full-time from September 2025 to July 2026
