Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct Child and Family Assessments under the Children Act 1989, with a specific focus on children and young people with disabilities.

  • Identify and act upon safeguarding concerns, initiating Section 47 enquiries where needed.

  • Manage cases across Child in Need, Child Protection, and Looked After Children plans, ensuring timely interventions and reviews.

  • Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners including health, education, and voluntary sectors to deliver coordinated support.

  • Assist with transitions planning for young people aged 14+, liaising with Adult Services to ensure continuity of care.

  • Prepare professional documentation and attend court proceedings as required.

  • Maintain clear, accurate, and up-to-date case records in compliance with statutory requirements and local authority guidelines.


Essential Requirements

  • Qualified Social Worker, registered with Social Work England.

  • Post-qualified experience within children's statutory services, ideally involving work with children with disabilities or complex needs.

  • Strong understanding of relevant legislation (Children Act 1989, SEND Code of Practice, safeguarding frameworks).

  • Excellent analytical, communication, and advocacy skills.

  • Confidence in using electronic case management systems and IT tools.
