Development Technologist in Telford, West Midlands

Recruit4staff is proud to be representing their client, a leading Food Manufacturing Company, in their search for an experienced Development Technologist to work from their R&D facility in Telford.

For the successful Development Technologist, our client is offering:

• Up to £35,000 per annum (DOE)
• Monday to Friday, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm
• 12-month Fixed Term Contract

The Role – Development Technologist:

• Manage development projects from concept to launch across the product lifecycle.
• Develop new or adapt existing recipes considering quality, safety, nutrition, and ingredient functionality.
• Prepare and present innovative samples to internal and external partners.
• Operate in the kitchen and pilot plant; plan and execute scale-up trials and product testing.
• Produce clear and complete trial reports and maintain full NPD documentation.
• Support first production runs and train relevant staff on new processes.
• Source and approve new ingredients following internal compliance procedures.
• Contribute to food safety risk assessments, nutritional claims, and artwork checks.
• Ensure all development complies with legal, brand, and retailer standards.
• Attend project meetings, contribute to feasibility studies, and communicate updates to stakeholders.
• Occasional travel to other UK manufacturing sites and third-party co-packers.

What our client is looking for in a Development Technologist:

• BSc / MSc in Food Science, Dairy Technology, or a related field – ESSENTIAL
• Knowledge of dairy science, nutrition, and product development – ESSENTIAL
• Previous experience working in a development role in food manufacturing – ESSENTIAL
• Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
• Effective communication skills and team player mindset
• High attention to detail and a passion for food innovation
