Our Clients who specialise in Freight Forwarding services, are looking to appoint a Business Development Manager for their team based in Berkshire. 

On a day-to-day basis, as Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for developing new business in support of the company's growth plans. You will drive the sales pipeline development and target suitable business and key verticals, ensuring all prospective and trading clients are fully aware of all services offered.

Business Development Manager duties include:

  • Be the forefront of the company's development by promoting the business to new and existing clients.
  • Develop, promote, and maintain long-term business relationships with a growth portfolio of international clients.
  • Meeting clients face to face to build relationships and gain business.
  • Obtain relevant information from customers to complete quotations and supply best possible solution.
  • Report into the Freight Manager with feedback on rates or services required and produce quotations from the system.
  • Follow up on quotes with clients and agents and secure bookings.
  • Provide accurate information to internal operations staff in order that relevant administration can be completed efficiently.
  • Support the export and import processes and cover for export and import teams during holiday and absence
  • Maintain accurate records of all customs-related documents and transactions
  • Communicate effectively with customers and suppliers regarding customs requirements and procedures

We're keen to speak to people who have previous sales experience ideally within the Freight Forwarding industry, who are self-motivated with a proven track record on bringing in new business and developing existing.  Sea freight knowledge would be a distinct advantage, as would experience using FMS, although this is not essential as training will be given.

The successful Business Development Manager wi ll have a p rofessional approach with the drive to be successful in gaining new business.  You 'll be self-motivated and have a 'can do' attitude, be able to use your own initiative, solve problems and have excellent communication skills. You will need a very keen eye for detail and a strong administration / presentation ability.
