Mechanical Fitter in Wallsend, North East

IRS Recruitment is currently resourcing for 20 Mechanical Fitters to commence from the end of June 2025 in Wallsend, Tyne & Wear. Potential long term assignments
We would like to work with Mechanical Fitters with the right ability / aptitude and willingness to learn within our final assembly department.
In this practical, hands-on position, you'll be responsible for assembling steel structures, mechanical components, and systems, following technical drawings and specifications. If you have a keen eye for detail, take pride in delivering high-quality work, and thrive in a team setting - we'd love to hear from you.
Job Requirements
- Assemble mechanical components and systems to engineering drawings and specifications.
- Use hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments for precise alignment and fitting.
- Operate overhead cranes to lift and position standard structures.
- Perform quality checks to ensure assemblies meet standards.
- Report issues or faulty components to supervisors.
- Carry out basic troubleshooting and rework when needed.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe work environment.
- Follow assembly instructions, method statements, and production schedules.
- Work collaboratively with your team and other departments to achieve production goals.
On the job training will be given, as well as external courses to bring the you up to speed.
- Require a good level of fitness (due to the requirements to access scaffolding and using fixed ladders).
- Willingness to work at height due to proximity of Transition Pieces (TP's).
- Willingness to learn and be trained by experienced colleagues.
Relevant work experience in an Oil and Gas / Renewable Industry environment is essential.
- Either in date or expired certification will be considered.
- Mobile elevated work platforms (MEWPs)

- Forklift truck
- Cherry Picker
- IPAF Certification
PAYE Dayshift: " Enhanced pay rates: starting from £23.50 for multifunctional trades where required"!
£21.50 per hour - For the first 38 hours worked and approved.
£27.95 per hour - In excess of 38 hours worked and approved.
£32.25 per hour - Saturday hours worked and approved.
£43.00 per hour - Sunday and Bank Holiday hours worked and approved.
