Role Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Team Manager to lead the Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) Team within Children’s Services in Slough. This ongoing locum role offers a rewarding leadership position where you will oversee safeguarding decisions and support vulnerable children and families.
As Team Manager, you will lead a team responsible for screening referrals, assessing safeguarding concerns, and making timely decisions to ensure the safety and wellbeing of children. You will work closely with partner agencies including police, health services, and education providers, ensuring effective information sharing and coordinated safeguarding responses.

What You Will Do

Lead and manage the MASH team, ensuring high-quality safeguarding responses aligned with statutory guidance.

Oversee the triage and allocation of referrals, ensuring children receive timely and appropriate interventions.

Make informed decisions regarding safeguarding thresholds and risk management.

Conduct quality assurance activities including case reviews, audits, and direct observation of practice.

Monitor team performance using performance data and contribute to service improvement initiatives.

Provide supervision, appraisal, and professional support to social workers and team members.

Support staff development and address performance issues where necessary.

Facilitate team meetings and ensure effective communication across the service.

Ensure children’s voices and lived experiences are central to assessments and safeguarding decisions.

Work collaboratively with partner agencies to strengthen multi-agency safeguarding practices.
Requirements

Qualified Social Worker with a recognised Social Work qualification (BA/MA Social Work, DipSW, or equivalent).

Current registration with Social Work England.

Significant experience within Children’s Social Care, particularly safeguarding and referral services.

Previous management or supervisory experience within a social work team.

Strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation and statutory guidance including Working Together to Safeguard Children.

Excellent leadership, decision-making, and communication skills.

Ability to manage high-pressure environments and complex safeguarding decisions.
