What You Will Do
Lead and manage a team of Social Workers, Senior Practitioners, and support staff within the Duty & Assessment service.
Oversee the screening, triage, and allocation of new referrals, ensuring children and families receive appropriate services promptly.
Ensure statutory assessments, including Section 17 and Section 47 enquiries, are completed efficiently and to a high professional standard.
Provide reflective supervision, guidance, and performance management to support staff development and maintain high-quality practice.
Monitor safeguarding thresholds and make informed decisions regarding risk management and intervention strategies.
Collaborate closely with education, health, police, and other partner agencies to ensure effective multi-agency safeguarding.
Ensure compliance with statutory frameworks, including Working Together to Safeguard Children and local safeguarding procedures.
Manage complex safeguarding concerns with urgency, ensuring timely and appropriate responses.
Drive service improvement initiatives, contributing to audits, inspections, and the continuous development of the service.
Requirements
Qualified Social Worker with a recognised Social Work qualification (BA/MA Social Work, DipSW, or equivalent).
Current Social Work England registration.
Significant post-qualifying experience within Children’s Social Care, particularly in safeguarding, duty, or assessment services.
Previous team management or supervisory experience within a local authority setting.
Strong knowledge of UK safeguarding legislation and statutory frameworks relating to children and families.
Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
