Overall purpose of the job

Our client is currently seeking the services of qualified registered nurses in their nursing homes. The ideal staff nurses will be reporting to the team leader and must have experience of working with elderly people in a nursing home environment.

Pay: Up to £49 per hour

The ideal candidate - YOU - would have a minimum of 12 months UK nursing experience, with 6 months in an adult care or nursing home or other relevant healthcare setting. Additionally:

1. Be a qualified RN with a valid NMC pin.

2. Have sound knowledge of current issues in care for elderly. 

3. Valid permit to work in the UK. 

4. Be able to work on own initiative.

5. Be able to complete an Enhanced AccessNI check.

Key duties and responsibilities

- Monitor Residents’ vital signs and conditions, maintaining high levels of clinical competence throughout the home. 
- Ensuring the appropriate individual care is given to residents, in accordance with their care plans. 
- Be responsible and accountable for the delivery of the highest standards of care possible to the residents. 
- Maintain accurate drug records and administer medication. 
- Report and document all accidents and provide professional nursing care in accordance with the RQIA requirements. 

- Maintain and update accurate individualized care plan for residents. 
- Working as part of a team and maintaining good communication with residents, visitors and colleagues. 
- Flexibility in shift pattern and undertake other duties as necessary and Assist in the supervision of staffs and ensure their adherence to the policies of the home. 
 

Qualification 

•    Registered Nursing Qualification-RN
•    Other post Qualification Training attended in nursing. 
•    Mandatory training courses 
•    Other additional training attended relevant to the role.

•    Good Communication interpersonal and problem-solving skills
•    Knowledge of the use of computers in documentation

Desirable Skills 

•    Experience of working alongside professionals from other disciplines/organisations to provide diverse packages of care. 
•    An understanding of the specialist needs of the client/user group. 
•    Leadership and management experience- supervision, teaching, and support for junior staff
•    Accountability- Taking responsibility of own actions and recognizing the implication of own actions to the team and the home. 
•    Conflict and relationship management skills. 
•    Knowledge of Long-term Conditions such as heart failure, stroke, neurological conditions, and dementia.
