An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Social Worker to join the Safeguarding Team within Children’s Services at the London Borough of Enfield. Based at Thomas Hardy House (N22 8EE), this role places you at the heart of protecting vulnerable children and promoting positive outcomes for families.

The position offers genuine flexibility, with standard working hours of 9am–5pm, Monday to Friday, alongside alternative patterns such as compressed hours (e.g. 8am–6pm over four days) or varied start and finish times. Part-time arrangements are also available, making this an ideal role for balancing professional commitment with personal life.

What you will do

  • Complete core assessments, pre-birth assessments, and detailed risk assessments in line with statutory guidance.

  • Undertake Section 47 child protection investigations to safeguard children at risk of significant harm.

  • Prepare high-quality court documentation, including Section 7 and Section 37 reports, and represent the local authority in court as required.

  • Carry out regular home visits to monitor children’s safety and wellbeing, maintaining accurate and timely case records.

  • Convene and contribute to core group meetings, working collaboratively with multi-agency professionals.

  • Participate in joint investigations and interviews with the police, including involvement in care proceedings where necessary.

  • Develop, implement, and review care plans, supervise contact arrangements, and prepare comprehensive case conference reports.

  • Attend and contribute to strategy meetings, child protection conferences, and Child in Need planning processes.
