What you will do:

Provide operational leadership to the Duty and Assessment social work team, managing performance, caseloads, and workflow to meet statutory timescales.

Offer regular supervision, guidance, and professional support to ensure your team's success and professional development.

Oversee screening and decision-making for contacts and referrals, applying the appropriate threshold in line with local safeguarding procedures.

Chair or contribute to strategy discussions, Section 47 enquiries, and complex safeguarding decisions, ensuring timely, high-quality responses.

Monitor the quality of assessments and promote best practice in compliance with statutory duties, the Children Act 1989, and local policies.

Foster strong multi-agency working relationships within the community, representing the service at meetings and forums for enhanced partnership and information sharing.

Provide management oversight on cases related to legal and court proceedings, ensuring high-quality reports and guiding staff in their court appearances.

Drive service development through performance monitoring, improvement plans, and inspection preparations.
