What you will do:

• Provide operational leadership to the Duty and Assessment social work team, managing performance, caseloads, and workflow to meet statutory timescales.

• Offer regular supervision, guidance, and professional support to ensure your team's success and professional development.

• Oversee screening and decision-making for contacts and referrals, applying the appropriate threshold in line with local safeguarding procedures.

• Chair or contribute to strategy discussions, Section 47 enquiries, and complex safeguarding decisions, ensuring timely, high-quality responses.

• Monitor the quality of assessments and promote best practice in compliance with statutory duties, the Children Act 1989, and local policies.

• Foster strong multi-agency working relationships within the community, representing the service at meetings and forums for enhanced partnership and information sharing.

• Provide management oversight on cases related to legal and court proceedings, ensuring high-quality reports and guiding staff in their court appearances.

• Drive service development through performance monitoring, improvement plans, and inspection preparations.
