Team Manager – Children’s Services (Families First Team)
Location: Bishop Auckland (DL14 6QW)
Pay Rate: £28.72 PAYE or £37.66 Umbrella per hour
Contract: Temporary
Hours: 37 hours per week (08:30 – 17:00)

Seven Resourcing are currently recruiting for an experienced Team Manager to join a Children’s Services Families First Team in Bishop Auckland. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Social Work Team Manager looking for locum team manager jobs, children’s social work jobs, and leadership roles within a local authority setting.

This Children’s Team Manager role is ideal for a skilled leader with strong safeguarding knowledge, experience managing frontline teams, and the ability to deliver high-quality outcomes for children, young people, and families.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a team of up to 7 Social Workers, 2 Social Work Consultants (SWCs), EPs, Family Workers, and Frontline Trainees

  • Provide supervision, leadership, and support to all social work staff within Children’s Services

  • Allocate caseloads effectively and oversee workload management across the team

  • Chair strategy meetings and Public Law Outline (PLO) meetings within safeguarding services

  • Quality assure all written work produced by Social Workers to ensure high standards

  • Attend and present cases in fortnightly legal clinics with Service and Strategic Managers

  • Ensure compliance with statutory legislation, safeguarding policies, and procedures

  • Support staff development, performance management, and continuous improvement

  • Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners to achieve positive outcomes

  • Undertake additional duties as required by the line manager

Requirements:

  • Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration

  • Significant experience within Children’s Social Work and Social Work Team Manager roles

  • Proven experience managing teams within Children’s Services or safeguarding teams

  • Strong knowledge of PLO processes, safeguarding legislation, and legal frameworks

  • Experience chairing meetings and presenting cases in legal settings

  • Excellent leadership, organisational, and communication skills

  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced local authority environment

Working Arrangements:

  • Full-time hours within a structured Children’s Services team
