Main Purpose of the Job

To ensure an appropriate and effective response for children at risk of violence and exploitation across the Royal Borough of Greenwich, both for children in our care, and children in need including those at risk of harm. The post holder will be committed to leading a small team of practitioners, policy development, collaborating with multi-agency partners, community-based outreach, and stakeholder engagement.

Safeguarding Service Leader

What You Will Do

  • Lead a small team of practitioners working with children and young people impacted by youth and community violence.

  • Develop and implement legislation, practice, policies and strategies under the Violence Reduction remit to ensure compliance under the Crime and Disorder Act 1998.

  • Collaborate with multi-agency partners, attend crucial meetings, and share information to address issues like missing persons, exploitation, county lines, and community violence.

  • Provide community-based outreach by working with young people and partner agencies in hotspot locations.

  • Monitor team performance, review outcomes against targets, and ensure continuous improvement.

  • Offer specialist advice and consultation support to professionals on violence reduction.

  • Work with stakeholders to deliver interventions supporting victims and those at risk of or involved in offending.

  • Promote professional growth within the team through regular training and support.

  • Develop effective partnerships and raise awareness with colleagues across Children's Services, partner agencies, and the public.
