What you will do

  • Plan Assessment: Evaluate Full Plans, Building Notice, and Regularisation applications for compliance with Building Regulations.
  • Site Inspections: Conduct detailed inspections to ensure construction work meets statutory standards.
  • Project Oversight: Manage complex and high-risk developments from a regulatory perspective.
  • Fire Safety: Undertake fire safety assessments and produce detailed technical reports.
  • Enforcement: Investigate dangerous structures and lead enforcement actions where required.
  • Advisory Role: Provide expert guidance to developers, architects, contractors, and the public.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records and prepare high-quality technical reports and inspection notes.
  • Quality Assurance: Contribute to service improvement initiatives and uphold high professional standards.
  • Mentorship: Support and mentor junior Building Control staff, sharing expertise and best practice.
  • Leadership Support: Deputise for senior management when required, ensuring continuity of service delivery.
  • Representation: Represent the council at meetings, hearings, and official engagements.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to Building Safety Regulator requirements and national standards.
