What You Will Do:

  • Conduct thorough assessments of children, families, and prospective foster carers to ensure the highest standards of safety and care.

  • Develop and implement care and support plans in line with statutory guidance and local authority policies.

  • Initiate and manage care proceedings where appropriate, representing the local authority in court settings.

  • Contribute to fostering panels and child protection conferences, ensuring that decisions are informed and child-focused.

  • Provide supervision, guidance, and support to less experienced colleagues and supervisees, fostering professional growth within the team.

  • Engage directly with children, families, and carers to ensure their voices are heard and reflected in care planning.

  • Maintain accurate and timely case records in compliance with professional and organisational standards.

  • Promote best practice in fostering, working closely with multi-agency partners to achieve positive outcomes for children and young people.

  • Act as an advocate for children in care, ensuring their rights and wellbeing are at the forefront of decision-making.


About You:

You are a qualified Social Worker (SWE registered) with a proven track record in children’s social care, particularly within fostering or looked-after children services. You have excellent assessment, communication, and leadership skills, with a commitment to reflective practice and continuous improvement. Your ability to manage complex cases while mentoring others sets you apart as a confident and capable practitioner.
