KPI Education is working with a high-achieving primary school in Chester that is looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant to join their team for the full academic year.
The Role
As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils across the primary classroom and work closely with teachers to create a positive, engaging and inclusive learning environment.
Your Psychology background will give you a valuable foundation for understanding child development, behaviour, communication and individual needs.
This role would be particularly suited to graduates considering a future career in Educational Psychology, Child Psychology, Teaching, SEN, Counselling or other child-focused professions.
Key Responsibilities

Support pupils with their learning throughout the school day

Work alongside class teachers to support engaging lessons

Provide 1:1 and small-group support where required

Help pupils develop confidence, independence and resilience

Support pupils with their social and emotional development

Encourage positive behaviour and classroom engagement

Assist pupils who may require additional learning support

Build positive and professional relationships with pupils

Contribute to a calm, encouraging and inclusive classroom

Support teachers with classroom activities and daily routines

Requirements
Essential:

Psychology degree with a 2:1 or above

Genuine interest in working with children

Strong understanding of child development and behaviour

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Patient, enthusiastic and approachable

Confident building positive relationships with children

Reliable and committed to the full academic year

Keen to develop a career working with children or within education
Desirable:
-
Previous experience working with children
-
Tutoring or mentoring experience
-
Voluntary experience within schools or youth settings
Previous school experience is not essential for the right Psychology graduate.
