What you will do:

• Provide visionary leadership to a team of 12 procurement and commercial experts, ensuring alignment with strategic commissioning aims.
• Drive procurement effectiveness, optimizing operational, financial, and social value objectives through strategic oversight.
• Support the development of commissioning strategy across the Council, enhancing contract management skills and practices.
• Navigate the complexities of public sector procurement, guiding councillors and addressing supply chain risks effectively.
• Implement and enforce compliance with the new Procurement Act 2023, and oversee the rollout of a Contract Module in the Council’s Finance System.
• Lead the introduction of updated contract procedure rules and establish a comprehensive Commissioning Framework.
