Job Title: Electrical Controls Engineer
Location: Preston
Salary: £55,000+ per annum
Hours: Monday to Friday, alternating early/late shifts (6am–2:30pm / 2:30pm–10pm)
About the Role:
We are excited to offer an exceptional opportunity for a highly skilled Electrical Controls Engineer to join a major FMCG manufacturer undergoing significant site expansion and automation investment. Working within a fast-paced, high-volume environment, you will play a pivotal senior role supporting engineering teams with complex electrical, controls, and automation challenges across a large-scale facility.
With over 1,000 assets, ongoing site upgrades, and continuous improvement projects—including major new automation and systems development—this role offers outstanding technical variety and influence. Reporting directly into senior engineering leadership, you will have the autonomy to drive improvements, deliver controls-based projects, and enhance the site's overall automation capability.
This position also includes structured professional development, with access to manufacturer-led training and Siemens PLC courses, providing genuine long-term progression and skills advancement.
Key Requirements

The successful Electrical Controls Engineer must have strong PLC experience (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Mitsubishi or similar), including fault-finding and modifications.

The successful Electrical Controls Engineer must have a solid background in electrical and controls engineering within a manufacturing or FMCG environment.

The successful Electrical Controls Engineer must hold a recognised Level 3 Engineering qualification or higher.
