Consultant Social Worker – Children & Families (Assessment & Safeguarding)
Location: Ipswich (Hybrid Working Available)
Pay Rate: £42.00 per hour (Umbrella)
Contract: Temporary (April 2026 – July 2026, with potential extension)
Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week

Seven Resourcing are currently recruiting for a highly experienced Consultant Social Worker to join a dynamic Children’s Social Care team in Ipswich. This is an excellent opportunity for a senior qualified social worker with strong experience in child protection, safeguarding, and assessments to take on a leadership-focused role within a busy local authority setting.

The position offers a flexible hybrid working arrangement, with approximately 2–3 days per week office-based and the remainder remote.

Key Responsibilities of the Social Worker:

  • Support the Practice Manager with the day-to-day operational management of the team
  • Provide supervision and guidance to Social Workers and support staff
  • Oversee and authorise assessments including Section 17 (Child in Need) and Section 47 (Child Protection) enquiries
  • Allocate incoming work and ensure effective case management and workflow distribution
  • Make informed duty and safeguarding decisions in line with statutory guidance
  • Contribute to Child in Need (CIN) and Child Protection (CP) planning processes
  • Ensure all work meets statutory requirements, legislation, and best practice standards
  • Drive high-quality practice across the team, promoting positive outcomes for children and families

Requirements of the Social Worker:

  • Qualified Social Worker with valid Social Work England registration
  • Significant post-qualification experience within Children’s Social Care
  • Strong background in safeguarding, child protection, and statutory assessments
  • Experience supervising or mentoring staff within a social work setting
  • In-depth knowledge of UK legislation, including Children Act 1989 and 2004
  • Ability to make confident decisions in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills
