Complex Care Assistant
Location: Durham
Pay Rate: £14.24 - £15.17 per hour (including holiday pay)
Fully funded Enhanced DBS
Guaranteed hours available following successful completion of probation
Day and night shifts available (12-hour shifts: 8:00 am - 8:00 pm / 8:00 pm - 8:00 am)

About the Role
Routes Healthcare is seeking a dedicated Complex Care Assistant to provide one-to-one support within a client's home in Durham.
You will support an individual living with a spinal injury and complex care needs, helping them to live safely, comfortably, and as independently as possible while receiving high-quality, person-centred care.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver person-centred care with dignity, compassion, and respect.
- Support with personal care, moving and handling, and daily living activities.
- Assist with medication administration and clinical observations.
- Support with bowel care, catheter care, and other clinical interventions (full training provided).
- Follow individualised care plans and risk assessments.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date care records.
- Work collaboratively with families, healthcare professionals, and the wider care team.

Requirements
Essential
- Minimum of 6 months' UK care experience.
- Right to work in the UK (no sponsorship available).
- Experience supporting individuals with spinal injuries, complex care needs, or physical disabilities.
- Experience with moving and handling.
- Reliable, compassionate, and professional approach to care.
Desirable
- Previous experience in complex care.
- Experience with catheter care, bowel care, tracheostomy care, or ventilation support.
- NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in Health & Social Care.
