Type: Full-time, locum, 3 months, 36 hours per week, Monday to Friday, hybrid

As a part of our team at Waltham Forest Town Hall, you will work Monday through Friday, with two days onsite and in the community, undertaking critical assessments that uphold the rights and safety of vulnerable individuals.

What you will do

  • Conduct triaging of DoLS applications and undertake Best Interest Assessments (BIA) in hospitals and care homes.
  • Promote and uphold Good Practice by example.
  • Collaborate with the DoLS Lead and administrators to establish and uphold Quality Assurance systems for BIA assessments.
  • Liaise with Managing Authorities to establish the necessity of following the DoLS process.
  • Ensure smooth operation of administrative aspects of the DoLS process by collaborating closely with the DoLS Lead.
  • Participate in BIA forums, case conferences, and management meetings.
  • Assist in mentoring and providing shadowing opportunities for student and practicing BIAs.
  • Work with vulnerable individuals in alignment with the Mental Capacity Act 2005.
  • Advocate for and protect the rights and safety of individuals in compliance with the Council’s safeguarding adult policies and procedures.
  • May be required to undertake Court of Protection applications and consult the Legal Team on relevant matters.
  • Perform other tasks relevant to the role.
