Role overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 8a Senior Clinical Psychologist (Pathway Lead) to join the SMH Psychology team in Romford. This ongoing locum role offers flexible part-time or full-time hours, Monday to Friday, with flexibility around start and finish times.

In this senior leadership position, you will provide clinical oversight and specialist psychological interventions for young people and families presenting with moderate to severe and complex mental health needs. This is a fantastic opportunity to combine clinical expertise with pathway leadership responsibilities in a supportive and forward-thinking service.

What you will do

  • Provide clinical leadership and pathway oversight, supporting and guiding junior staff.

  • Deliver specialist psychological assessments and interventions for children and young people with complex mental health presentations.

  • Manage and respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns and escalations.

  • Provide clinical supervision and ensure access to evidence-based CAMHS interventions.

  • Contribute to service development and pathway improvement initiatives.

  • Travel between service sites as required (a car is essential for this role).


About you

  • HCPC registered Clinical Psychologist.

  • Significant post-qualification experience within CAMHS or children’s mental health services.

  • Experience providing supervision and clinical leadership.

  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding procedures and complex case management.

  • Confident working autonomously while contributing positively within a multidisciplinary team.
