What you will do

• Independently conduct and report a wide range of diagnostic ultrasound examinations, including but not limited to abdominal, pelvic, renal, small parts, MSK, vascular and DVT studies, following departmental protocols.
• Generate precise, succinct, and clinically relevant diagnostic reports to aid in patient diagnosis and treatment plans.
• Evaluate patient history and clinical information to decide on the best scanning technique and imaging pathway.
• Operate independently yet collaborate with Consultant Radiologists and senior colleagues for complex findings.
• Keep meticulous patient records using PACS, RIS/CRIS, and other Trust information systems, adhering to data protection and governance requirements.

Person Specification

Qualifications

• Postgraduate Diploma, MSc or equivalent in Medical Ultrasound.
• Degree in Radiography, Healthcare Science, Midwifery or relevant healthcare discipline.
• CASE-accredited ultrasound qualification or equivalent recognised accreditation.

Registration & Compliance

• HCPC, NMC or equivalent appropriate professional registration.
• Continuous Professional Development evidence.

Key Skills

• Proficient in independent ultrasound scanning and reporting.
• Specialisation in areas like general abdominal, pelvic, renal, small parts, MSK, vascular and DVT.
• Strong knowledge of PACS, RIS and electronic patient record systems.

Experience

• Considerable post-qualification sonography practice in NHS or similar healthcare environments.
• Proven experience in conducting and reporting non-obstetric ultrasound exams independently.
