Location: The Thicket, Maidenhead, Berkshire, SL6 3QE
Salary: £37,440 per annum, all year round & upon completion of your probation you will receive a £1,000 bonus
Hours: Monday to Friday

Are you a qualified Early Years Practitioner ready to take the next step into an Assistant Room Leader position?
Claires Court is looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Assistant Nursery Room Leader to support children aged two to four within our nursery at The Thicket. You will join an experienced team in a beautiful setting located alongside our Junior School.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Level 3-qualified childcare professional who is passionate about early years education and ready to take on additional responsibility.

The Role
Working alongside the Nursery Room Leader, you will support the effective day-to-day running of the room and help maintain a safe, inclusive and stimulating learning environment.
You will assist with the development of the nursery team and step up to lead the room confidently in the Room Leader’s absence.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the daily organisation of the room, deploying staff and resources effectively while maintaining appropriate ratios
- Deputise for the Room Leader and oversee room operations in their absence
- Help create a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment for every child
- Plan and deliver stimulating, age-appropriate activities based on each child’s individual needs
- Complete observations and assist with assessments using the Evidence Me app
- Ensure children’s learning records remain accurate, current and effectively shared
- Model excellent practice and support the development of colleagues across the nursery
- Build trusted relationships with parents and carers through open and professional communication
- Follow all nursery policies covering safeguarding, child protection, health and safety, confidentiality and GDPR
About You
To be considered, you must:
- Hold a relevant NVQ Level 3 Early Years or Childcare qualification
- Have previous experience working within an early years or nursery setting
- Work positively and flexibly as part of a wider nursery team
- Be confident stepping up and taking responsibility when required
- Engage fully with the school’s ethos and contribute creatively and reflectively
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to children’s welfare, safeguarding and child protection
Some reasonable out-of-hours attendance may be required for training, staff meetings, parents’ evenings and special events.
